Selling FAQ
SELLING F.A.Q.

Q: Can a host sell and get the sales commission too?

A: YES! You are your best advocate! If a host sells, then they will earn 85% of Live Reads & Business Highlights, 35% of Co-Branded Ads, & 30% of Ticker Ads, Product Placement, and Video Ads. (If you are handling the filming & editing of the videos you will also get those percentages!)

Q: Why is the platform's split so much higher on Co-Branded ads?

A: There are hard costs to pay ad platforms that we can't control.

Q: As a sales rep, is my commission just based on the first month sold only?

A: NO. If your client is doing a monthly campaign, then you get paid monthly!

Q: If my client buys an annual (a year contract) do I get the entire commission for the year up front?

A: No. Even if a client commits to a year or longer we only require them to pay monthly & therefore we will pay you monthly. This prevents a situation where you would have to pay back any commission if the client cancelled early.

Q: Does that mean I get paid only if the client pays their bill?

A: Correct. We take the approach that a sale is not a sale unless the client pays. However, we do not extend credit and clients must pay up front.

Q: Will I be required to handle collections?

A: No, but you may be asked to help facilitate collections if needed, however, since all of our advertising options are set up to be paid up front monthly, we don't foresee collections being an issue.

Q: Will you take my taxes out as a W2 Employee or will I be a 1099 Subcontractor?

A: Down the road, we can convert you to a W2 Employee but for our start-up phase you will be a 1099 Subcontractor & thus, responsible for your own taxes.

Q: Can I sell more shows than just the ones in my town?

A: Absolutely! If you want to just sell in your local area you can. If you want to sell to national advertisers for the entire platform, then you can do that as well. If you are familiar with another local market and want to sell there, you can do that as well. Currently, we do not have exclusivity pertaining to sales.

Q: How much can I realistically earn?

A: According to Indeed and other job related websites, media sales reps earn on average $65,000 to $95,000/year. However, with our platform having such a diverse genre of both local & national appeal, you could earn considerably more. And furthermore, you can sell packages to the little guy for as little as $125/mo or to the big guy for tens of THOUSANDS per month, so you have a wide range of possibilities.

Q: Will you hire me if I have never done sales before?

A: Yes. Not having prior sales experience does not preclude you from selling for us as we do have coaching and sales training available. You will be hired as a 1099 Subcontractor, which means you will be basically working for yourself but we want you to succeed and will help you any way we can.

Q: I am experienced in sales and don't want to be micromanaged. How many sales meetings will I be required to attend and is there any training required?

A: Since you are an independent contractor, you work for yourself. We just have weekly check-ins and once a month coaching/training where your experience will be a valuable contribution. If you want to sell some of the other digital advertising products we have access to, we do want to make sure you thoroughly understand them before offering them to potential clients.

Q: What happens to my commissions if I leave the company?

A: You are an independent contractor, you work for yourself. Any sales closed by you will continue to earn you commissions unless you abandon the client and we have another rep catering to their needs.

Q: What can I be expected to do as a sales rep?

A: Prospect, pitch opportunities, and once they buy, you may need to get copy and logos from them, help them create copy, get creative ads from them if doing video ads, get their product or schedule their service with a host if it is for a Business Highlight Ad, get updated banner ads for the website if they bough Co-Branded Ads.

Q: If I just sell my core clients and don't sell anymore can I keep earning commissions on them even if I do not sell anymore?

A: Yes! If you are satisfied with the income you are making and don't want to add anymore clients, you can do so. Although, we caution you to make sure you are catering to the needs of your core clients to keep them active and engaged.
